Services & Products:
Blue Ribbon offers design and construction services that include whole house remodeling, additions, bathrooms, kitchens, attic and basement renovation and exterior renovations such as screened porches and decks.
Unique Business Approach:
We offer a systematic approach to residential home remodeling. This process begins with the initial complimentary ball park estimate. If the cost range for the project is acceptable to the homeowner we enter into a design phase. The design phase is three distinct steps allowing us to evaluate the project into extreme detail through drawing plans, conducting site visits by all of the major players on the project and then providing a very detailed scope of work. We work very hard to make sure that all nuances of the project are discussed in an attempt to avoid change orders and unforeseen circumstances that force cost adjustments. Once design is accomplished the project is moved into the construction cycle. We use a construction specific project management software called Build Tools. The software tracks and manages all aspects of construction including budget control, project schedule, logistics of permitting and personnel scheduling. It also captures and stores all project photos, emails, text messages, bids, purchase orders and meeting notes. The client has a portal to log in to see their project specific information, request information, approve any change orders, view plans and documentation.
Blue Ribbon began after Hurricane Fran in 1996. At that time I was working with Anderson Homes as the Design Department Manager. Prior to my joining Anderson Homes, I owned a remodeling company on Long Island New York. Anderson Homes owner came to me after the hurricane and wanted to begin a remodeling company to assist our homeowners with repairs. After about a year and a half later I purchased Blue Ribbon from Anderson Homes.
For nine years, John owned a mid-size remodeling firm on Long Island, New York, before he moved to North Carolina to join Anderson Homes as construction supervisor and progressed within the company as an estimator, director of product development, and systems administrator. In the aftermath of Hurricane Fran in 1996, Anderson Homes handled repairs to its clients’ homes with a new division, Blue Ribbon Renovations, which John managed. He purchased the division in 1998 and changed the name of the company that now has served families in the Triangle Region for 18 years.
John is a past chairperson of the Raleigh/Wake County Home Builders’ Association / Remodeler’s Council and current chairperson of the Council for Ageless Residential Environments. Dedicated to his community, John has served as a firefighter / lieutenant / engineer with the Apex Volunteer Fire Department and is a member and past President of the Apex Sunrise Rotary Club and is currently serving as the Rotary 7710 District Assistant Governor. Striving for professionalism in his industry his continuing education includes: Certified Aging in Place Specialist, NC Residential Construction Certification and Certified Lead Renovator.
