With the hopes of growing a business together, a father and two sons (Bill – father, Chas, and Dan Morgenstern) have taken on the challenge of offering a unique alternative in the fast-casual restaurant industry. Bill, raised by his sausage-maker grandfather Charles (Chas’s namesake), has always had a passion to one day open a restaurant that serves only the highest quality sausages and dogs. bacon bbq dogLooking at the landscape and seeing burger and burrito places on every corner, the Morgenstern trio offers the marketplace the whole grill, and features the most delicious sausages and Certified Angus Beef® burgers and dogs in town. Firewürst was even recently named the Best Lunch Restaurant in Cary by the Cary News. Now with three locations and a quickly growing catering division, Firewürst is ready to introduce the entire Triangle and beyond to what “flame-grilled” is really all about!

Our Founders:

  • Bill Morgenstern – CEO:
    • Best of Cary 2014 badge.epsBill, the father in the trio, has been an entrepreneur his whole life. His first venture was a furniture leasing company called Rentway, Inc, headquartered in Erie, PA, which grew to a size of approximately 800 locations over 20+ years. After moving to Cary, NC with his wife, Shelley, daughter, Jackie, and two sons, Chas and Dan, Bill became the CEO of a non-profit microfinance organization for several years, before beginning the Firewürst venture in 2012.
  • Chas Morgenstern – Operations, Finance:
    • Firewurst - now that's a burgerChas, the eldest son, is a graduate of Penn State, where he earned a degree in business management. Chas spent his first few years out of school working with Huron, a healthcare consulting firm based out of Chicago. Chas and Bill had long discussed opening a business together, so he stepped away from his role and the two of them developed and launched Firewürst. Since the opening of Firewürst, Chas and his wife Nicole have experienced the joy of their first child, Reed, who was born in late 2013.
  • Dan Morgenstern – Marketing, Catering:
    • Firewurst is deliciousDan, the youngest son, graduated from UNC – Chapel Hill in 2013. After spending most of 2013 gaining experience at Red Ventures, a marketing and technology firm outside of Charlotte, Dan rejoined the Firewürst team to assist with the restaurant’s marketing needs. Dan also oversees the restaurant catering sales and operations.
